COVID-19

Wow.

What foreign and trying times these are.

for the planet,
for our country,
for each and every one of us.

As musicians and independent artists, Nick and I have found our income come to a near halt. All our gigs for the end of March and April have been cancelled, and several May weddings postponed. We were also supposed to record our first EP this month, and that has also been set to the wayside.

We find ourselves sitting on the edge, not sure of how things will unfurl in the coming month(s). Yet, amidst the storm, we are taking this time and the opportunity to slow down, to reflect, to seek truth, and churn our creativity.

Nick and I have been quiet on the social media front. While many of our fellow musicians started doing live streams as early as March 18th, we have needed time to digest and find grounding in our current "norm". With death tolls rising and many families without the resources they need, it has been a whirlwind of emotions and states of being.

We have currently left Asheville. Shortly before Buncombe county and the entire state of NC declared a stay at home, Nick and I, after loosing work, decided to pack our belongings and head to our family’s farm. We decided it best to be here with loved ones. A place where we are able to rest and support each other over the coming weeks and months.

We have spent the past week and a half tilling earth, planting, walking fields, and sharing space with family. We have taken the time and space to quiet the mind and settle into this new rhythm. Despite the hard times, it has been a blessing to be immersed in nature. It has been healing to sit with the sounds of spring: the singing birds, the wind in the grasses, the trickle of the creek nearby... We have been taking comfort in the welcoming arms of mother nature and the support she continuously offers us.

Now that we have had time to settle and realign, we are excited to announce that we will be offering our first virtual concert this Friday, April 10th, at 7pm. We will be calling this event, and others, the Barn Concert Series!

We hope you all can join us, and we appreciate any donations sent via Venmo and PayPal to support us during our social distancing days! We will share more details via IG and Facebook as the date approaches.

We hope that during this time of chaos, you all can find your own calm and comfort. We hope that during bleak moments, you find strength in knowing we are all in this together.

Stay safe and be well!

with tons of love,

Brooke + Nick

Music On the Fly!

We are honored to be a part of the series ‘Music On the Fly’! This is a program sponsored by the Asheville Regional Airport and Ashevegas. The two join forces to hire musicians to play in the airport for both visitors and returning locals.

It’s a wonderful program to highlight the local talent that Asheville, NC has to offer! We are excited to be among the roster of talented musicians who participate in this!

Creative Morning's Asheville Performance

We are excited and honored to be the first musicians to play for Creative Mornings Asheville! This event first started in NYC and now happens in over 176 cities worldwide. There is always a featured speaker who formulates a talk based on a theme. This month’s theme is symmetry.

We will be sharing a few originals to kick off this month’s event. We have factored in this month’s theme, and we are so thrilled to share our work! After our performance, speaker John Vigeland (CEO and co-founder of EASTFORK POTTERY) will be speaking.

If you didn’t get tickets, have no fear, you can watch the feed of this week’s Creative Morning on their site post event.

Sovereign’s head chef, Graham, will be providing a 9 course meal for guests before the party starts. If you aren’t familiar with Chef Graham, look up this creative gent who is in the lime light of the James Beard Foundation.

Tunage will begin at 10pm, and you better believe that our cover list has expanded! Don’t be surprised to hear some tunes by The Cure, A Tribe Called Quest, and The Beatles. There will be a Champagne toast at midnight, so be there or be square!
